John Hewitt is a limner, printmaker, drawer and member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Artists. He produces highly detailed works in pencil and have been creating daily gel-pen sketchbook drawings since 2013 which are often re-crafted into conservation-quality digital prints. His artworks are housed in collections that include the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Whitworth Art Gallery, the Government Art Collection and the Museum of London. John completed a doctorate on drawing and memory in 2008. In 2016 he won the Hugh Casson Drawing Prize at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, for a rendering of Staffordshire flatback figures.
